When my first 3 weeks of hospitalization were over, in emergency and intensive care at Hôtel-Dieu in Lévis and trauma at Sacré-Coeur in Montreal, I was very fortunate to have been transferred to the Institute. I would not have wanted to go anywhere else, because I’d heard so many good things about it.

Being surrounded by so many people with exceptional resilience, people who had had amputations, spinal cord injuries, serious orthopaedic injuries, and their loved ones, transformed my life more profoundly than my accident had. What I learned from people at the Institute turned the worst months of my life into something else altogether.

They actually gave me my life back
