Winter Campaign
Reclaiming my autonomy. Being the best mother I can be.
In 2017, after a car accident, my arms and legs were amputated at different lengths. After my 7-month stay at the Institut de réadaptation Gingras-Lindsay-de-Montréal, I had regained a good part of my autonomy.
But then, I also had to learn how to physically look after the baby I was expecting. The pressure was on. A social worker had raised the possibility that I might have to entrust my baby to Youth Protection if I was not up to the task. But I knew I could do it. However, I had to rely on the experts at the Clinique Parents Plus to teach me the very best strategies.
“Parents Plus taught me how to become a functional mother.”

Parents Plus: Supporting Parents With a Disability
1 in 5 parents in Quebec lives with a health condition or disability that limits their activities (Statistics Quebec, 2020).
Thanks to the support of the REA Foundation, the Clinique Parents Plus is continuing to pursue its mission: to help every parent enjoy the parenting experience—autonomously, safely and with a sense of fulfilment.
CONCRETELY, THE CLINIC HELPS PARENTS:
- Safely care for their child on their own;
- Feel competent and confident;
- Use adapted technical aids to compensate for their limitations when providing hygiene care or moving around with their baby, for example;
- Benefit from a conducive environment that is accessible so that they can play their role to the fullest.
